The differences between the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge
June 10 2022,
Volvo offers two fully electric SUVs in 2022: the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge. These two models share many similarities, but they both have their own personalities.
The style
The most noticeable difference between the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge and the 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge is the exterior style. The C40 benefits from a modern coupe-like SUV look that comes from a lower roofline that slopes down at the rear. This makes it stand out by giving it a distinctive appearance that is all of its own, but also easily recognizable as a Volvo model. The XC40 on the other hand is more convenient due to its boxier profile and its higher roof, which give it a more upscale appearance and a high level of practicality.
The space
Inside, the 2022 Volvo XC40 benefits from more space for the rear passengers and more cargo room due to its upright shape. This translates into a cargo space of up to 1,328 liters with the rear seats folded down and 453 liters with it up. The C40 Recharge is still very practical, with up to 1,206 liters of space, 413 liters of which are behind the rear seats. Something to note: both models have the same interior dimensions in the front seat area, so you will be just as comfortable in the C40 as in the XC40.
The range
A perhaps unsuspected advantage of the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge’s lower roofline is the improvement in aerodynamics it brings over the 2022 XC40 Recharge. Combined with a slightly lower weight, this gives an edge to the C40 in terms of range and performance, making for a possible range of 364 kilometers on a single charge. The XC40 Recharge can go 359 kilometers on a full battery, which is enough to cover most of your driving needs without ever having to charge on the way there.
