A Look at the Different Ways you Can Charge the Volvo XC60 Recharge
August 09 2022,
The Volvo XC60 Recharge is one of the most efficient vehicles in its class due to its advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain. Here are the ways you can charge its battery in order to make the most of its capabilities.
Charging with a residential charger
By using a wall charger or an AC fast charging station with a capacity of up to 3,6 kW, you can fully charge the battery of your Volvo XC60 Recharge in about three to four hours. Doing so allows you to benefit from the entire 58 km electric range and thus limit your fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This type of charger can be installed in your home and it can be found in a number of public places, which means that you can benefit from the faster charge time even without having to make modifications to your house’s electrical system, which can be costly.
Charging with a household 220V connector
If you can’t install an external charger at your home, you can let the onboard charger of your Volvo XC60 Recharge replenish the battery by plugging the supplied cable directly into a standard 220 or 240-volt outlet, similar to the one used by your clothes dryer. Doing so allows the battery to be charged to 100% in four to eight hours. This solution allows for reducing the costs associated with PHEV ownership.
Charging with a standard 120V outlet
Even if you can’t use a 220V charger, you will still be able to charge your Volvo XC60 Recharge at home. Indeed, you can use any regular 120-volt electrical outlet to top off the battery, albeit at a slower rate. This means that when charging an empty battery up to 100%, it could take between eight and ten hours, which means you can leave your vehicle plugged-in overnight and return the next day to a full battery. This method is ideal if you are renting or if the electrical system of your home can’t support faster charging.
